Nokia 8 smartphone to launch in India on September 26






HMD Global is looking forward to launch its latest flagship smartphone, the Nokia 8, in India on September 26. HMD Global has sent across media invites declaring the smartphone launch on September 26 which mentions, “Join us for unveiling the next milestone of Nokia phones”. With all the other Nokia smartphones already launched in India, one gets no mark for guessing that the Nokia 8 will be launched next.
With the launch taking place on 26th September, sales of Nokia 8 are assumed to start sometime in the second week of October. Keeping in mind the company’s online and offline strategy, the Nokia 8 might be sold offline. HMD Global’s launch date and sale timeframe of the Nokia 8 is presumed to be decided keeping the festival season in mind. The company has thought of launching the Nokia 8 just before Diwali in order to grab the attention of the mass market. In Europe, the price of Nokia 8 is €599, which when converted becomes roughly Rs. 45, 000.
Specifications and features of Nokia 8
The Nokia 8 comes with a 5.3-inch IPS 2K resolution display with 700nits of brightness along with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It is driven by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor. The smartphone packs 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal memory which can be further expanded till 256GB via a microSD card.
For all photography enthusiasts, the Nokia 8 is gifted with Carl ZEISS-powered dual cameras behind. The dual-camera setup comes with a pair of 13-megapixel sensors – one clicking photos in RGB, and the other in monochrome. The primary sensor has Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and PDAF support, f/2.0 aperture, and IR range finder. In the front, the smartphone comes with a 13-megapixel snapper with PDAF support, f/2.0 aperture, and display flash.
What keeps the smartphone going is a 3,090mAh battery along with Quick Charge 3.0 support. The connectivity options come with dual-SIM support, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The Nokia 8 also showers you with features like fingerprint sensor, IP54 rating for protection against accidental spillage of water, and three microphones just for audio recording. In the software department, the phone runs on stock Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box. The Nokia 8 has already been given the Android 8.0 Oreo beta, with the stable version assumed to be released soon.

Samsung tips best quarterly profit in over three years as chips soar

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd forecast on Friday its best quarterly profit in more than three years in the January-March period, beating expectations and putting it on track for record annual earnings on the back of a memory chip super-cycle.
